The Tulppa® construction board saves time, work and money
In 2012, Finnfoam Oy introduced a new type of wet room construction board called Tulppa®. The Tulppa® wet room board can be used as a construction board and waterproofing material in wet rooms, and allows tiles to be laid directly on top of the boards.
The Tulppa board is based on Finnfoam's insulation board materials and a special purpose cement mortar reinforced with glass-fibre mesh. The Finnfoam core is coated with the special purpose mortar and reinforced with glass-fibre mesh on both sides. The wet room solution is CE approved through the European Technical Approvals framework. Tested, compatible sealing products and tile mortars are available from ARDEX, Casco, SCHÖNOX and Sika.
Thanks to the patented installation system, installing Tulppa boards is quick and easy. Using Tulppa boards, a professional builder can easily complete 10 to 15 m² of wall surface ready for tiling in an hour. The Tulppa boards are manufactured at the Finnfoam production facility in Salo, Finland.
In exterior wall structures, the Finnfoam core functions as a waterproofing and thermal insulation layer as well as a vapour barrier. Thanks to its ability to withstand moisture and its high compression strength, Finnfoam is ideal core material for waterproofing boards. Moreover, Finnfoam is a waterproof, mould-proof material.
Uncomplicated installation, easy to cut to shape, easy to handle
Thanks to easy handling and cutting properties and uncomplicated installation even in confined spaces, using the Tulppa wet room board may save you several days of wet room installation work. The innovative, patented horizontal installation method makes installation easier, and matched edge profiles ensure that all joints are waterproof. The boards can easily be cut to the desired shape and size using a box cutter, keyhole saw or electric compass saw. A construction professional can complete 10 to 15 m² of finished bathroom wall ready for tiling in an hour. The lightweight boards can be moved by a single person on the construction site.
A considerable amount of time and effort is saved as no separate waterproofing compound needs to be applied to construction boards and dried out. Instead, tiles can be laid right on top of the Tulppa board the day after installation.
