The result of long-term development work
The Tulppa® wet room solution is the result of several years of research and design work, and represents the cutting edge in waterproofing solutions. The project was made possible by Finnfoam Oy's long history and substantial expertise in the field, creating the foundation for developing an entirely new type of wet room solution. See below for a short description of Finnfoam Oy, the company behind Finnfoam.
Finnfoam Oy is a family business established in 1982 by Jorma J. Nieminen. The principal product of the company is the Finnfoam thermal insulation board. The 2011 turnover of Finnfoam Group was approximately 66 million euros, and the group employs approximately 90 employees (2012). Finnfoam insulation boards are made of extrusion-compressed polystyrene using a method that creates a completely homogenous and closed cell structure.
Finnfoam boards are durable, waterproof, mould-proof and have excellent thermal insulation properties. Finnfoam's self-developed production technology has a very small environmental footprint. The annual capacity of the Salo plant is approximately 1,400,000 m3 – more than twice the size of the Finnish market.
A new Finnfoam production facility with an annual capacity of approximately 500,000 m3 was opened in 2011 in Lithuania.
